Agency Access to Your GoDaddy Account

Being a website owner comes with a lot of responsibility. You have to ensure that the website is not only impeccably designed and functional, but it also needs to be accessible to users on the internet. For that, you choose a web hosting company to store and maintain your website files and data on a server that is connected to the internet. So, when your users type your website's URL (address) into their web browser, they are able to view it.

One of the largest and most popular web hosting companies is GoDaddy. It provides a wide range of hosting plans, including shared hosting, dedicated hosting, and VPS hosting for your platform. With a user-friendly control panel, reliable uptime, and excellent customer support, it makes it easy for users to manage their websites and domains.

So, now you have your website and your web host all set up, but you need help to manage both. What do you do? You partner with an agency like Tradebuilder to assist you. For the agency to maintain your website, they will need access to your website, and you will need to give it to them. Here’s a guide to help you give access to your agency to manage your GoDaddy account.

Make Your Agency Your Delegate

When you collaborate with designers, developers, or an agency, they will need access to your GoDaddy account. Instead of sharing your login credentials with them, you can give them “delegate” access.

Delegate access is a feature provided by GoDaddy that allows you to grant access to your  accounts to third parties without sharing your account login information or other sensitive information.

With delegate access, you can invite collaborators to manage your GoDaddy account. Once the invitation is accepted, the delegate can manage your account without viewing or changing any secure information, such as credit card information and passwords. You will have full control over the delegate's level of access and can revoke it at any time.

To use delegate access, the invited delegate must have a GoDaddy account or create one when accepting the invitation.

How do you Invite Them?

The process to invite someone as a delegate to your GoDaddy account includes the following steps.

Step 1: Go to your GoDaddy account and open ‘Account Settings.’

Step 2: In the drop-down menu, go to ‘Delegate Access.’

Step 3: You will see two options, one for requesting access and the other for inviting someone to access. See the image below.

Step 4: You will be required to enter the name and email address of the invitee to give access. Refer to the image below.

Step 5: And then the most important part, you will have to choose the level of access to be given. There are three categories of access.

  • Products, Domains, and Purchase: This is the highest level of access to your accounts. The delegate can manage products and domains as well as make purchases using the credit card information stored in your account.
  • Products and Domains: Through this level of access, the invitee will only be able to manage your domains and products without accessing any sensitive information.
  • Domains Only: As the name suggests, this level will only allow the invitees to manage your domains.

After choosing one of the levels of access, depending on your preferences, you will then click on the invite button.

Step 6: In the final step, GoDaddy will send an email invitation to the invitee, and once accepted, the agency will become your delegate. The status will be displayed on your side of GoDaddy once the agency becomes a delegate, with their name and the access level. See the image below.
